Today is June 4. After an amazing weekend playing The Mandolin Cafe with the.north.oakes.project, we are officially moved out of our house and on to start our adventure. Friends have made the transistion easier and brownie oreo chocolate chip cookies have been distributed. Things are off a bit rocky, considering my car troubles and a few minor health issues, but we still are really excited. In five days we will be in Cuernavaca, Mexico. I am attending the institute of Kukulcan furthering my Spanish capabilities, and the boys will be attending a private elementary school. We will be staying with a host family (whom we haven't met yet, but I'm sure will take good care of us), and soaking up the Mexican history and culture through the summer. My goals this summer include:
Becoming as fluent as possible in Spanish
Seeing the pyramids in Teotihuacan
Going to the Frida Kahlo Museum and the Blue house
Seeing the Castle of Cortes
Travel to Pueblo
Learning Spanish cooking
Try cactus
Learn the streets of Cuernavaca
and a million other things...
After our trip to Mexico, we will be flying into Phoenix to visit family and friends, and then roadtripping through the country checking out the grand canyon, las vegas, and bryce canyon.
For the next 5 days, the boys and I are staying in Parkland with a friend and will be until we leave. I intend to use this site as a blog to communicate our travels for the next 8 weeks, so check in to see where in the world we are :)
