christmastime

Yay! It's December. Christmastime has officially started. Christmas music, lights, santas, goodwill to all... I really love this time of year. I feel like this December is one of the hardest I've dealt with, but I am also more happy right now than I have been in previous years. I have my boys. They are so cool. I have my friends. I am making strides towards keeping contact with the family I do have in my life.
This weekend the boys and I chalked it full with everything we could. Saturday we left early to Seattle where we had lunch at Red Robin.  We walked to the arcade and played and played and played.  Unfortunately i didnt take my camera this time, i have been waiting to get my replacement 50 mm lens (which arrived late saturday by the way). After the arcade, we ventured to the aquarium and spent some time playing with the starfish. We finished up the day at Top Pot Donuts, like most of our Seattle trips, for some chocolate maple bars and coffee for mom.
Today, Noah got to spend the afternoon with friends at the ymca for a birthday party and Parker and i got to spend some quality time at a sushi restaurant. :) And after we went to chuck-e-cheese..
Tonight we worked on our Gingerbread house... complete with frosted windows and gummy gum drops.  What a great way to begin Christmastime.

Well this week has rushed past us..
Parkers last football game of the season was on saturday.. It was so much fun.. I asked him last week if he was ready for basketball season.. he said 'mom im no good at basketball.. football is my lifes passion cant i just play that all year!' It made me laugh.

Noah is growing like a weed and very interested in spelling. Everywhere we go he spells everything.. and usually sings it too. He is so cute.
I took the kids to see Madagascar 2 in the theatres and realized its been so long since weve done that. Actually the last movie we saw was Kung fu Panda with my mom in tow. Tonight Parker told me how much he loves his grandma even though shes not here and that she was the best grandma he'd ever had. We all miss her tremendously.
I am borrowing a car from a friend which is exciting because of the amount of rain we have been having. No more walking in the rain for us. But speaking of rain, about 2 weeks ago our house flooded. The bottom floor filled with around 2 inches water and we have been working on keeping it dry ever since. In the meanwhile the kids are sleeping upstairs in my bed and I am sleeping on the couch once again. Que sera sera.
I played two shows this last saturday. One for the kind folks at Borders Books in Puyallup. It was a party for the new movie/old book Twilight. So Chris Bridges and I played for around an hour. It was great.
Then we headed on over to tacoma to play at Doyles where they seemed to really like us. We stayed after and listened to a friends band.. and rocked out with some homies of ours. Im so thankful i know so many amazing musicians

halloween tales and birthday treats

Halloween.. we all remember how exciting it was growing up.. dressed as an outerspace alien, farmer, princess, or good old fashion witch! The excitement of the day would boil until we couldnt stand it and would bug our parents saying that it really is never too early to go trick or treating. Well this year was our first tacoma halloween. We did the proctor walk around, which the kids found a bit puzzling.. so we decided to head on back to our neighbors for some good old fashion door to door. I must say stadium district really gets into it. Kids everywhere.. costumes, lights, music, fog.. it was spooky and lots of fun. The kids defenitly scored./a>

The night after was my birthday. Lots of fun...everyone came out to paddys and we had music and laughs. Thank you to everyone who came and wished me well on my getting older and more haggard. Pictures to follow.. hah

fa la la la

I have been invited a few times this week to go to sing in Seattle. Thanks to a tremendous amount of help from my friends, thanks guys, I was able to venture up there. The first night I played at the Skylark. It was a red walled dive bar full of people at little square tables and wooden benches with a cute little stage in front. By the time I was able to go up it was getting late and there were only stragglers left inside, but the ones that stayed really enjoyed what i did. :)
The next night it was at the Dubliner in Fremont. Really cute Irish bar with a seemingly secret roomed alcove. Bar in back up a few steps and the servers were really friendly. Nice stage although the announcer guy was not incredibly friendly. The best part of the whole night.. my friend ashley from Alaska showed up and so did another friend, Ash from Seattle. I was so happy to see them walk in as I'm on stage pretending that the world is listening to my words. ha. Thank you Ashleys!!
Well all in all I am getting better at the beats, strums, coordination, everything. I am not great by any means, but I do enjoy it. I hope that people enjoy listening so I can continue on with it.
I am posting the only photo i have of my show at Paddys last friday.. totally unflattering but hey.. we cant look like rock stars all the time.

This Night. Of all nights.

Tonight the kids are fast asleep. Noah is passed out on the couch and parker is in his room surviving a slight fall down the stairs. It is almost 3 am and here i sit. Just nourishing my body with a nutrigrain bar (mixed berry) and a few chips and salsa.. I am close to hitting the hay.
Tonight I found myself disappointed in so many things and people. Mind you I had a pretty good day with the boys. We played a lot of rock, paper, scissors and Parker had a big football practice. But I realized how hard it is to be a single mom. It is overwhelming and difficult and stressful... I find myself so alone sometimes. Raising kids alone is the biggest task i have ever taken (obviously).
Tonight my good friend colin came over to hang out with the boys. They watched movies and played imaginary games like glasses, gum, potato... and i got to go out for the first time in quite a while. (thank you colin) I went to a few different places and wound back at my house at around midnight... utterly disappointed in people once again for the day. Sometimes i wish life was more set out.. easier.
Tomorrow is a new day. It is a bright day. I see the plan ahead and no matter how stressful it may seem to me.. tomorrow will come and i will have to deal with it while carrying a little boys hand in each of mine.
Im gonna go to the toy store in the morning and buy the police puppet parker has been dying for.
Then Im gonna breathe and keep on going.

randomness

Well here it is.. first week of october.. so much going on. Parker is now in football. Its so much fun going to practice and watching him love his life... even if it is pouring rain and 2 hours of practice. hah. Parker is also signed up for a math class and a photography class which im really excited about.
I am working days now at the restaurant so i can be home at night with the boys and its working alright. I got my name on the menu at work which is pretty neato. I created a Guinness float. Its paddys ice cream topped with guinness and its in our menu now as Heidis Guinness Float! yay me.
I must say working at paddys i have met a lot of really great people. A group of people that i have been serving every sunday night at paddys came in tonight per usual.. and gave me a great tip.. It was a card that all of them had signed and a $50 gas card. They are amazing friends that i have made and i appriciate them to the fullest. Recently there has been a bit of drama in my life and they have been so concerned and caring.. they are genuinely great people. Thanks Ochs family.
I've been doing a bit of photography. Finished my first album for a 50th wedding anniversary and that was amazing.. so much fun!! i will put up a link on here soon as i figure out how.. haha
well im off to bed. I got 14 hours of sleep last night and i think im reading to mosey on to dreamland again.

day one of the whole year

First day of Lowell Elementary today.  Oh man, i see a busy year ahead... with homework, ice cream socials, and football.. i think i will be kept on my toes.
Noah had his first day of school today. Kindergarten.. and a full day too.  His new teachers name is Mrs. Pelegru
ti and she has been at Lowell forever.  We first met Mrs. Pelegruti at a Kindergarten bbq held in the school yard.  It was a really nice function put together as a meet and greet for all of us venturing in to K-garten.  Noah has always been a kid that kept to himself.. and as other kids had an imaginary friend.. noah did not.  Noah chose to have an imaginary teacher. Her name, Mrs. Light. Mrs. Light liked to argue with me about exactly what noah should be doing.  If i said it was time to clean up.. noah said mrs. light said he didnt have to .. and so on.  So the day we walked up to his new real life teacher the look on his face was priceless.  It was like introducing him to Santa Clause. He was so happy.
Parker has a fun teacher this year named Mrs. Mosied.  She
sings with a guitar to the kids and wears leopard print tops and heels. She reminds me of my high school spanish teacher Mrs. Carhart.  And if she is anything like her, Parker will have an adventurous year for sure.

Last week the kids and i went blueberry picking.  My friend amy has a friend in her knitting group that has 40 blueberry trees... amazing.  It was actually re
ally fun and relaxing.  the berrys were big and sweet and there werent any spiders or bugs.. surprisingly.  We managed to get a whole bag full and then came home, made a blueberry tart, and watched the gnome mobile.  Needless to say the berries were so good,  we had them all gone by the next afternoon.

7.18.08

Today i am sitting in front of my compaq presario and looking through pages of Mac computers. hmmm. options.
I am eating indian bombay potatos from a pouch and have the newly recorded versions of my songs on repeat. (here they are for curious onlookers: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=188772752 ) what a day! The boys and i are all moved in to our new place and we love it so far. The best part is walking everywhere. Everywhere! Subway, the park, the school, the cute new pizza place across the street. its fun. and amazing.
Today I'm a bit under the weather so the boys are downstairs making a riot playing imaginary baseball (imaginary bats and balls included) and I'm thinking of putting in a movie.

Yesterday as i rolled out of bed thinking of the thousand and one things i needed to do. I decided to do none of them. I sat myself down on my big comfy couch and cooked myself an amazing spicy stirfry (the kind that makes your eyes water profusely and your nose run so much you need extra napkins) and watched the romantic comedy 27 dresses. Well the movie was alright. It was mostly what i needed at the moment.... But also made me feel a bit angry at the simplicity of love in that movie. (yet i think thats another blog... ) Then i walked the 4 mile or so trek to work and made a whopping 25 dollars.

Thunderstorms and sunshine. oh washington. Im kind of glad its raining today, i must admit. Im glad i get to stay home and cuddle with my chitlins and play imaginary baseball. What a day.

here today. gone tomorrow.

Well here it is.. July 10th 2008. The boys and I are getting ready for our big move into the city. Parker counts the days down as Noah exclaims "I'm gonna be in Kindergarten!"

The move is incredibly overwhelming. More so than I expected. I am trying to keep busy with work, murals and photography.. the added income is a much needed blessing... but also a bit much. The boys and I have been spending our days sorting through memories and looking to the next cubby to see what we find. Oh man, I cant wait for this month to be over.
